Internal hires usually mean the company trusts its pipeline. That is not easy to build, especially at MTN’s scale.
True, but it can also mean they are too comfortable. If everyone grew up in the same system, who is challenging bad legacy decisions?
I think it depends on timing. If the company is stable, internal works. If they are trying to reinvent themselves, you probably need outsiders.
The bigger signal to me is employee morale. Moves like this tell staff there is a path to the top.
Yeah, and that alone can improve performance more than any external hire would.
