Is it really the network, or have our phones quietly become data monsters? TikTok, Instagram Reels, automatic app updates, cloud backups, HD streaming, and apps running in the background can burn through gigabytes without us noticing. Yet many Nigerians still believe their data doesn't last like it used to. Have you noticed the same thing, or do you think people simply use far more data than they realize?

MTN data doesn't last like it used to. Same phone, same habits, but now my 15GB disappears in a week. Something definitely changed.
‘same habits’ 😂
Once 4G and 5G became common, everything started loading in HD automatically. Websites, ads, and videos are much bigger than they were five years ago.
I still think the telecom companies should be more transparent. Whether it's perception or not, a lot of Nigerians feel their bundles disappear faster these days.
My phone showed TikTok used over 9GB in one month. I couldn't believe it until I checked the data usage page. Those short videos add up quickly. I think it's a mix of both. Apps have become incredibly data hungry, but because data is expensive now, we're paying closer attention to every megabyte that disappears.
