Most people have heard of Oracle Corporation, but unless you work in tech or business, it’s not obvious what they actually do. That’s because Oracle is almost entirely B2B (business-to-business). They sell tools to companies, not to everyday users.
At its core, Oracle is a data company. Their main product is database software, systems that help organizations store, organize, and retrieve massive amounts of information. Banks use Oracle to manage transactions, governments use it for records, and large companies rely on it to track customers, inventory, and operations. If a company handles serious data at scale, there’s a good chance Oracle is somewhere in the background.
Beyond databases, Oracle also offers cloud computing services, similar to AWS or Microsoft Azure. This means businesses can run their apps, store data, and manage systems on Oracle’s servers instead of owning physical hardware. They’ve also expanded into enterprise software, things like HR systems, finance tools, and supply chain management platforms that large organizations use daily.
The reason most people don’t “see” Oracle is simple. They don’t build consumer apps like Instagram or TikTok. Instead, they power the infrastructure behind businesses. Think of them less like a flashy brand and more like plumbing, quiet, essential, and everywhere once you know where to look.
