OpenClaw and Nikita Bier's Spam Warning

Nikita Bier is the head of product at X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. In February 2026, he made a scary prediction. He said that in less than 90 days, our phones and email will stop working properly. Not because of a technical failure, but because of spam.

He wrote on X: “In less than 90 days, all channels that we thought were safe from spam & automation will be so flooded that they will no longer be usable in any functional sense: iMessage, phone calls, Gmail. And we will have no way to stop it.”

So, what's OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is an open source platform that lets anyone build their own AI agent. These agents can send texts, draft emails, make phone calls, and do tasks automatically on your behalf.

Before OpenClaw, setting up automated spam systems required technical skills and expensive infrastructure. Now, almost anyone can do it. Bier said the technical barrier is gone.

Why does this matter?

Bier explained that people who want to make just 50 dollars per day could set up OpenClaw and start spamming at massive scale. He said what we experience now is only 0.1 percent of people using these tools. Imagine when 100 percent of people who want easy money start using them.

The problem is not just more spam. The problem is that AI generated spam sounds real. AI can copy your voice, your language, and your emotions. You will not be able to tell the difference between a real call from your wife and an AI pretending to be your wife.

Is this actually going to happen?

Some experts say 90 days might be too fast. But everyone agrees the direction is clear. Spam volumes are already rising. Many people already get dozens of realistic scam calls every day. The question is not if this will happen, but when.

What can you do>?

Security experts suggest a few simple steps. Create a family password or a secret phrase that only you and your loved ones know. If someone calls asking for money, hang up and call back using a number you trust. Never trust an incoming call alone. And be careful about posting your voice online. AI only needs a few seconds of your voice to clone it.
