Does obsession really beat talent?

z/philosophy by

Think about the people you’ve seen succeed. Some were gifted from day one, effortlessly good at everything they touched. Others weren’t special at the start, but they cared so intensely that they outworked, outlearned, and outlasted everyone around them. Talent gets you through the door, but obsession keeps you in the room long after others have left. Then again, obsession can burn people out, wreck relationships, and chase goals that never pay off, while talent tends to be steady and forgiving. So which would you rather have: natural ability you can coast on, or a relentless drive that never lets you rest? And why?
