Compare that to what happened last month when Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” Within a day, the U.S. federal government had updated its geographic databases and Google Maps was already showing the new name to American users. One man, one signature, and an entire mapping infrastructure moved.
 

That’s the gap. A single American executive order gets institutional compliance in 24 hours. A continental body representing 1.4 billion people can’t get its own schools to draw itself at the correct scale after decades of knowing the problem exists. The AU has summits, working groups, and communiqués about African unity and self-image, but it has never once treated something this basic and this fixable as a priority worth acting on.

If Africa wants to be taken seriously on the world stage, it might start by taking itself seriously enough to look accurate on its own walls.
