Genuine question for the timeline: is Nigerian lit having a moment where every bestseller title doubles as a subtweet to an ex? ‘Husband Is Useless,’ ‘Nearly All Men in Lagos Are Mad’… at this point the cover art alone tells you the plot. Not saying the frustration isn’t earned, plenty of receipts out there. But when an entire genre’s thesis statement is ‘men bad,’ it stops being commentary and starts being a formula, like Nollywood epic movies but for marriage trauma. Where’s the female Nigerian author writing about ambition, faith, class, anything that isn’t a man’s failures? Or am I just not reading widely enough?

This one gulped down so much negativity and had to spill it out in a book. I respect the energy. 😂
