Who should pay the bill on a first date?

Someone asked you out on a date only for them not to pay for your drink.. 

Literally begged you to be on that date.

Went to a nice spot, waiter handed the menu, and the drinks they had was from 6k and above. 

I felt he won't be able to pay i just ask for a cheaper drink of 1k ( ferouz). 

When it was time to pay this dude lost memory, i paid for my drink anyways. 

I'm definitely not speaking to him again…

Would i have insisted he pay or i did the right thing to just pay..
