picture this: you start a small business and route payments through a POS agent instead of your personal account, thinking cash stays invisible. Except your BVN is tied to that POS transaction too, since agent banking now reports to the same CBN infrastructure. Every transfer, every withdrawal, every loan you take elsewhere becomes visible on the same identity thread.
Even relocating doesn’t help. Move to Lagos from Uyo, open a new domiciliary account for forex savings, and NELFUND’s system still sees you, because BVN isn’t location-bound, it’s identity-bound. The old days of defaulting on a student loan and vanishing into informal cash economy are gone. This isn’t 2015 NELFUND-adjacent programs with weak enforcement. This is a system built on the same rails banks use to catch fraud in real time. Pay up before the joke becomes yours.

I tried registering in 200l, beneficiaries said it was free money lol. I guess they could survive with crypto payments and defi. it also is really said to see how hard it is for a graduate to pay loans of the equivalent of<$1k off.
The loan comes with a 0% interest rate anyway. They should be able to pay back on time.
