Social Ecommerce has been a term that has been thrown around for a while now, and it's starting to gain a little traction in 2026, I anticipate that by 2027-2030, social ecommerce might as well be the new fintech for a couple reasons. Africa is & has always been the marketplace of the world, we have always been collectively called consumers, everybody builds to sell to Africans, but one thing they miss out is the mindset of the true African.

Africa is highly diverse, different people with different collective perspectives and many apps built for us aren't built to custom-fit our needs. Just like a meme to a dev would only make sense to a dev and that of a crypto bro to a fellow crypto bro. Africans, thanks to the most recent bridging of the digital divide; AI, free/ affordable resources, and more, are now able to build, for the first time in a while, tools and products that they can truly relate to and products they can scale infinitesimally.

DepMi came at such time where Africans want to be a part of this new rush, and many are still yet to fully understand it. solving problems will only become easier along the line. At just 11 days of launch we have been able to get 200+ signups and 60+ stores, it's currently the easiest way to set up a store in 2026, and it's only getting better from there.
