Several former students have shared experiences highlighting strict and, at times, controversial disciplinary practices at their university.

One student recounted how authorities allegedly misled students into attending a late-night “emergency meeting,” only for it to turn out to be an unannounced drug test. The exercise reportedly lasted until early morning, with students still expected to attend classes afterward.

Another described an incident where, after a chapel service, staff locked the exits and brought in barbers to shave the hair of students deemed “unkempt,” raising concerns about hygiene and consent. The situation reportedly drew national media attention.

Academic policies were also criticized. A student shared how their roommate, after serving a suspension, was still held to full attendance requirements, making him ineligible for most of his exams and forcing him to repeat the academic year despite appeals.

Security practices were also questioned. One student described how a visiting relative was aggressively confronted and accused of suspicious activities without evidence, escalating into a tense encounter.

Health-related leniency appeared limited as well. A student who was hospitalized for malaria was still penalized for missing a compulsory service, which initially affected exam eligibility and led to missed papers before intervention reversed the decision.

Strict enforcement of school rules extended to personal items and appearance. Students reported disciplinary actions for possessing SIM cards, having certain wallpapers deemed inappropriate, or even facial hair during exams.

Additionally, some accounts described late-night drug testing and sudden compulsory gatherings, sometimes poorly organized and disruptive to academic schedules.

Overall, these testimonies suggest a highly regulated environment where disciplinary measures, enforcement methods, and administrative decisions significantly impacted student experiences sometimes in ways students perceived as excessive or unfair.
